Rare cast iron stove-pipe shelf; fresh off the farm.  Measures 20” x 20”, with center hole to fit around 6” pipe.  Four projecting hangars for utensils or potholders. Very old, all original; markings unclear. $190.  (I have other stove pipe shelves; if interested, let me know.)

Wood burning stoves were so common in 19th c. households that stovepipe shelves evolved naturally and brought creative variations to serve many functions.

On May 3rd, 1883, J. Kurtis of Springfield, Ohio patented this ingenious, 8” stove-pipe collar supporting five removable shelves which also serve as decorative trivets; other stove pipe shelves also available).  EXTREMELY RARE. $235
